Hacks & Tips to assembling furniture without losing your mind.
Furniture assembly can turn in a nightmare if you do not have the right tools and you are not familiar to follow the instructions and a lot of parts lists, but maybe, you are a lucky handy guy, and everything goes well with all supplies provided with the furniture parts and instructions without any extra tools.
Here some steps I use to do when I am assembling or disassembling furniture for customers.
01 – Checklist all parts, supplies to have sure that your inventory is okay to start the task.
02 – Measure the space for the furniture to confirm that is enough. If not, make room for it.
03 – Make room to work, moving furniture if necessary.
GoNoGo decision if everything is okay or not. Maybe something is missing or damaged and need to be replaced.
04 – Extra tools, of course, will depend on what kind of furniture you are going to assemble and install.
Plus the essential tools, laser level or beam level, walabot or stud scanner, drill, impact driver, hammer drill, drill bit (concrete, wood), hole saw, anchors for concrete and drywall, rubber mallet, three-step ladder, moving blanket, utility knife, tape measure, jigsaw, grinder, hack saw, clamps, etc.
05 – Read the instructions. Take the time to read and understand the sequence of work to assemble all parts and where each different hardware goes.
06 – Hands-on and verify the handiwork for each set accomplished.
07 – After the completion, cut the cartoon in small parts and clean the workspace.
